Under-18 Simulator Use Policy

Effective 11 June 2026

City Greens Golf welcomes young golfers and families. Our aim is to provide a safe, enjoyable and responsible environment for all players using our indoor simulator rooms.

Because our simulators are private indoor rooms where golf clubs and balls are used at speed, additional rules apply to anyone under the age of 18.

For the purpose of this policy:

Children means players aged 14 and under.
Juniors means players aged 15 to 17.
Adult means a person aged 18 or over.

Children aged 14 and under

Players aged 14 and under may use the simulators only when accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult aged 18 or over.

The supervising adult must remain inside the simulator room at all times and is responsible for the child’s behaviour, supervision and safe use of the simulator throughout the session.

Children aged 14 and under may not use a simulator room without adult supervision.

Before play, the supervising adult must complete the City Greens Golf safety waiver and ensure that the child understands the safety rules.

Juniors aged 15 to 17

Players aged 15 to 17 may use a simulator room without an adult inside the room only where all of the following conditions are met:

  • A parent or guardian has provided consent.

  • A parent or guardian has accepted the City Greens Golf safety waiver.

  • The junior completes the safety briefing before every session.

  • The simulator room door remains open or ajar throughout the session.

  • There are at least two junior players present.

  • Juniors may not use a simulator alone.

  • Each junior must be able to demonstrate safe and competent use of golf clubs in an indoor simulator environment.

  • Each junior must either be a member of a recognised golf club, currently receiving golf lessons, or have previously received suitable golf instruction.

  • City Greens Golf staff must be satisfied that the simulator can be used safely.

City Greens Golf reserves the right to refuse access, require adult supervision, or stop a session immediately if staff are not satisfied that the junior players can use the simulator safely.

Safety rules for all under-18 players

All under-18 players must follow the City Greens Golf safety rules at all times:

  • Only one person may hit or swing a club at any time.

  • No one may stand in the hitting area unless it is their turn.

  • No practice swings are allowed unless the hitting area is clear.

  • Golf clubs must only be used in the designated hitting area.

  • Golf balls must only be hit towards the simulator screen.

  • No running, pushing, wrestling, horseplay or unsafe behaviour is permitted.

  • Players must not stand in front of, beside, or close behind the person swinging.

  • Players must not climb on furniture, screens, nets, curtains, simulator equipment or barriers.

  • Food and drink must be kept away from the hitting area and simulator equipment.

  • Staff instructions must be followed at all times.

Failure to follow these rules may result in the session being stopped without refund.

Staff safeguarding rule

City Greens Golf staff will not be alone with an under-18 in a closed simulator room.

If a member of staff needs to assist an under-18 player, the simulator room door must remain open or ajar, or another adult must be nearby.

A member of staff or guardian must be on-site at all times when U18s are present.

Standard simulator bookings are not childcare, coaching or supervised junior sessions. Where City Greens Golf offers formal junior coaching, junior events or regular supervised junior activity, additional safeguarding measures may apply, including appropriate staff checks, training and procedures.

Parent and guardian responsibility

Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring that all information provided to City Greens Golf is accurate and up to date, including emergency contact details and any medical, behavioural or access needs that may affect safe participation.

Where a parent, guardian or responsible adult is supervising a child aged 14 or under, they must remain present inside the simulator room throughout the session.

Right to refuse or stop play

City Greens Golf may refuse access, require additional adult supervision, or stop a session at any time where:

  • The required consent or waiver has not been completed.

  • A child aged 14 or under is not properly supervised.

  • A junior aged 15 to 17 attends alone.

  • The simulator room door is closed during an unsupervised junior session.

  • Players do not follow the safety rules.

  • Behaviour is unsafe, disruptive or inappropriate.

  • Staff have any concern about the safety or welfare of an under-18 player.

This policy is in place to protect children, juniors, parents, staff and other customers, and to ensure that everyone can enjoy City Greens Golf safely and responsibly.
